Cottonwood Barn Wedding Venue

Olivia & Blain’s Western Styled Wedding at Cottonwood Barn

Olivia & Blain’s boho/western theme was a big hit, especially with the backdrop of a white barn which they had always wanted. Read what they had to say about their wedding at Cottonwood Barn.

How would you summarize your wedding?

We chose Cottonwood Barn because of the beautiful scenery and the main attraction, the barn! I always wanted a white barn and finding one was hard. I used The Knot to do most of my wedding planning and that’s where I came across the Cottonwood Barn. We had about 110 guests and 14 bridesmaids and groomsmen combined, which was plenty enough room in the bridal suite and groomsmen space. We had our wedding in the middle of July with our ceremony being at 6:00. The weather at the time was hot but wasn’t unbearable.

Did you have a specific theme for the wedding?

Our theme was boho/western. We used black, brown, beige and hints of teal and burnt orange. I always wanted a Western-themed wedding because of my background and how I grew up. So using Pinterest and other Western-inspired pictures helped put my vision together.

What kind of cake did you have?

For my dessert we ordered a cake from Walmart with minimal icing decor and we put it together with flowers I bought at Hobby Lobby. The cake topper we found on Etsy. For the groom’s dessert, we had a chocolate fountain with a charcuterie board of strawberries, marshmallows and pretzels. I chose a simple vanilla cake because who doesn’t like vanilla and my husband chose the chocolate fountain with strawberries because it’s his favorite sweet treat.

What did the bridal party wear?

I wore the traditional white dress that was more of a fit and flare style with flowers all over and a long train designed by Maggie Sottero. My bridesmaids wore all black with gold or silver jewelry. The groomsman all wore black top suits, jeans, boots and a cowboy hat. The groomsman wore no tie, only the groom. I originally had the guys and gals in a champagne/beige color. We switched to black last minute because the groom liked it better and I loved how it turned out.

What kind of flowers did you have?

We didn’t have a florist and found all the flower decorations on Facebook marketplace or anywhere else that caught my eye. In my bouquet, the bridesmaids’ bouquet and boutonnieres we used preserved roses, king protea, pampas grass, palm leaves, eucalyptus, fern and preserved amoranthus. All with white, beige and a very light pink color.

How did you decorate the venue?

My friends and family decorated the venue. On each table we had a cheesecloth table runner, mason jars with pampas grass and my favorite decoration was putting a couple of picture frames of me and my husband on each table as well as my bridal portraits. We had a cake/dessert table and a welcome table decorated the same. We also used our tall arch mirror with lettering decal put on as our welcome sign.

Any suppliers you would like to mention?

Taste Catering
Paris Mobil Bar

What was the best part of your day?

I had the most fun dancing with all my friends and family, but the best part would have to be when we read our vows. Just getting to express how much love we have for one another was the best feeling.

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

I feel like what most couples worry about with their wedding is when things don’t go to plan, but it can really be the best part. It captures all the raw and genuine moments and makes for the best memories! So just be in the moment and take in your special day!
